Proposed Property Tax Information for 2024  

Visit Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes to find a link to your local property tax database on which you can easily access information regarding your property taxes, including information regarding the amount of taxes that each entity that taxes your property will impose if the entity adopts its propose tax rate. Your local property tax database will be updated regularly during August and September as local elected officials propose and adopt property tax rates to determine how much you pay in property taxes. 

To receive notifications regarding updates to the property tax database, search for and select View on your property. Select "Subscribe to notifications" on your property detail page in the top- right corner. After entering a valid email address and full name. select "Confirm" and follow the instructions to confirm your subscription.

2024 Tax Bill Announcements

2024 Property tax statements will be mailed the week of October 28th. Property owners whose taxes are escrowed by their lender may view their billing information using our Search My Property program.

To avoid penalty and interest, 2024 property taxes must be paid in full on or before Friday, January 31, 2025.

The delinquency date is Saturday, February 1, 2025, and a 7% penalty and interest will be added to property accounts with outstanding balances. Taxpayers who are not able to pay the total amount by January 31st are encouraged to pay as much as possible but will be subject to penalty interest on the remaining balance.

Accounts with an Over65 or Disabled Person exemption that have elected the Quarter Pay option and have made their 1st payment on or before January 31st are not assessed penalty and interest.

Quarter Payment Installment Plan

Sec. 31.031 of the Property Tax Code allows individuals who are disabled, disabled veterans, or surviving spouses of disabled veterans or who are at least 65 years of age and qualify for a homestead exemption to choose an installment payment option on the property in which the homestead is claimed. Late payments will be charged a penalty and interest per the Texas Property Tax Code.

Quarter Payment Installment Schedule:
  -  1st installment due - January 31
 -  2nd installment due - March 31
 -   3rd installment due - May 31

 -  4th and final installment is due on July 31

Williamson County Property Tax Office 

Property taxes are the primary source of government revenue in Texas. These are local taxes based on the value of the property that help to pay for public schools, city streets, county roads, police, fire protection, and many other services.

The Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector's office currently handles the following:

  • Collection of property taxes for Williamson County and other taxing jurisdictions
  • TABC Occupational Tax (Georgetown office only)
  • Issuing of tax certificates(Georgetown office only and there is a $10 fee for each certificate cash or check only)

Please note that the Williamson County Tax Collector only collects property tax for the County and other jurisdictions. We are not responsible for the setting of tax rates or determining property values.

Your tax rates are set by the governing bodies of the applicable taxing jurisdictions for your property.  You are encouraged to express your views at your taxing jurisdiction’s tax rate public hearings.  These hearings are typically held in August and September.  Information about dates and times are posted in newspapers and on websites prior to the hearings.  You can find information about tax rates for jurisdictions throughout the County here: TAX RATE INFORMATION

YOUR TAXES OWED CAN BE CALCULATED AS FOLLOWS:

Property tax amount =  ( tax rate ) x ( taxable value of property )  /  100

When using the online property tax payment option, there are no fees for e-checks, and a 2.15% fee for all Credit/Debit card transactions, with a minimum of $2.50. The vendor fees associated with credit card transactions and e-checks are passed along to the credit card or e-check users and are not paid by the Williamson County budget. Payments made using this service may take approximately 5-7 business days to post in our system and will show the date paid as the original payment date. If you received a tax bill and you have an escrow account, proper notification may not have been received from your mortgage company's tax service.
